U.S. government regulations such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) or international agreements such as Basel II increasingly drive the need to track changes to data over long periods of time. All business and service organizations are increasingly held accountable for maintaining a secure history of data on which key decisions—sometimes life-or-death decisions—are based. Oracle Total Recall, an option to Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition, makes creating and maintaining a historical record of change over time as simple as flipping on the light switch when you enter a room.
