Tidal Horizon 1.8 for PeopleSoft released

In recent news, Tidal Software, a leading market provider of
scheduling and performance management software released Tidal Horizon 1.8 for
PeopleSoft, the newest release of its enterprise class application performance
management solution. This new release provides
service level monitoring and automated performance analysis for the PeopleSoft
Enterprise applications.

According to Rod Butter, Senior Vice President of Worldwide
Marketing for Tidal Software, “Horizon is unique in its approach and ability to
determine the root cause of problems. Unlike traditional Application Performance
Management, this is Application Performance Automation. It takes the next step
in actively working to understand the precise problem.”

He goes on to say, “There are many enterprises that have
multiple ERPs deployed. We see PeopleSoft viewed as a specialist solution
across a range of problems – HR, CRM, Financials – running alongside another
ERP or custom solution. Often that means it is being supported by a specialist
team that doesn’t have many resources to fall back on. Horizon can be a real
benefit in these settings, creating greater capacity and productivity for the
PeopleSoft team, but also empowering other groups, such as IT operations or the
support teams for other ERPs, to assist in the performance management of
PeopleSoft as well.”

In this newly released edition, Tidal Horizon for
PeopleSoft, can diagnose the root cause of over fifty common service level
issues impacting the performance of PeopleSoft. Examples included a range of conditions across the end to end
infrastructure of the application from a specific SQL statement to a slow
component on the application server to a
performance problem on the web server.

“Application Performance Automation is a solution that is
long overdue. Application Performance Management or APM has probably been more
about performance monitoring than actual performance management. The actual
management part has been left to the administrators and operators who are
required first to recognize when a condition indicates there’s a problem and
then to sift through the huge amounts of data that have been collected by the
monitoring solution to determine what went wrong.” Tidal believes this is the
source of many problems that have long persisted in the data center including:
end users reporting performance issues before IT is aware of a problem;
sporadic problems that occur repeatedly before they are captured and corrected;
and war room based triage where entire teams must be assembled to understand
and correct critical problems. Application Performance Automation specifically
targets these symptoms by automating, in real time, many of the manual processes
associated with these scenarios.

Tidal Horizon for PeopleSoft offers you the following:

  • Automated Workflows
  • Diagnostic Reports
  • Leverages PeopleSoft Performance Monitor Interface (PPMI)
  • Identifies Over Fifty Common PeopleSoft Problems Out-Of-The-Box

For existing customers who
use Tidal™ Enterprise Scheduler to manage the data center operation of
PeopleSoft, Tidal Horizon for PeopleSoft offers new opportunities for service
optimization and real time response to business needs through the use of the integration
of Tidal’s enterprise job scheduling and application performance management
solutions. This integration, called Tidal™ ASAP, brings performance management
data directly into the automation of IT processes.

Butter says, “Horizon is more than a just a performance
package for a specific application. Horizon provides a foundation for managing
a range of applications in the data center. By continuing to develop new
editions covering the major ERPs, our goal is to deliver a solution that
automates the performance management covering the breadth of the data center.”
He goes on to say, “This is part of our larger vision of solutions that can
self-heal and self-align applications to meet the real time business needs. It
has been a long-term goal to create self-correcting systems in IT. From
lights-out computing to virtualization, the goal is to have systems that adapt
to system issues in real time. But none of this can be achieved without taking
on the first problem – being able to automatically diagnose the source of the
problem. We are already leveraging Horizon for automated corrective action when
problems occur with background batch processes. We believe this is just the
beginning.”
