PCI DSS Compliant Companies Suffer Fewer Data Breaches

An Imperva study on the impact of payment Card Industry’s (PCI) Data Security Standards (DSS) shows that those companies that are PCI DSS compliant suffer fewer data breaches. The survey of 670 US and multinational IT security practitioners looked at how efforts to comply affect an organizations data protection and security. Interesting twists is that while the PCI compliant organizations suffered fewer or no breaches, most still do not perceive PCI-DSS to have a positive impact on data security.
