IBM Trend Report Shows Decline in SQL Injection

Monday Mar 1st 2010 by DatabaseJournal.com Staff

The IBM X-Force 2009 Trend and Risk report may show a decline in popular attack methods such as SQL injection but there is still a 345% increase for other types of attacks.

SQL injection attacks have been around for many years and, I guess, we should breath a sigh or relief that there is a decline in its use. Maybe hackers are just getting tired of exposing vulnerabilities through this method, maybe databases HAVE gotten more secure, or maybe SQL injection has just been around long enough that we know how to detect, prevent, and code around it. What ever the reason there is no time to rest because this little feather in our caps has to give way to the 345% increase in other types of attacks.
