Business intelligence is one of the fastest-growing enterprise software markets, but if it doesn't fit in with the way your employees work, it won't get used.

Business intelligence is one of the fastest-growing enterprise software markets, but if it doesn't fit in with the way your employees work, it won't get used.

That was just some of the insight and advice offered by analysts and vendors in a reports on the changing business intelligence market.

Finding an effective and efficient business intelligence solution remains a challenge, and traditional BI technologies like ETL, data warehousing, reporting and online analytical processing (OLAP) have not kept pace with the needs of businesses.

For business intelligence to work, it must be incorporated into employee job flow, integrated with primary applications, and deliver meaningful results quickly to where employees are via mobile devices. And it needs to be simple enough for employees to use without help from the IT department.

It's a tall order, but one that BI solutions need to achieve if they are ever going to fulfill their substantial promise.
