Oracle changed more than its product portfolio following its acquisition spree: it changed its whole business. But is the makeover more than cosmetic? Angela Eager investigates.

Oracle has in recent times not so much been throwing off the old to bring in the new, as hanging onto the old while adding the new. It has considerably changed the shape of its business and is now presenting a new face to the world.

The company is faced with numerous challenges, but they all relate to one fundamental change: the transition from an infrastructure technology provider to an applications provider.
