MySQL Renews InnoDB Deal with Oracle

Open source database vendor MySQL AB has signed a new multi-year agreement with Oracle Corp enabling it to continue to sell and support the InnoDB storage engine, according the company's vice president of marketing, Zack Urlocker.

Uppsala, Sweden-based MySQL's use of the InnoDB engine was placed in doubt after rival Oracle acquired its developer, Innobase Oy, in October 2005. In a posting to his blog, Urlocker stated that an agreement has been signed and that it was "business as usual".
