MS pledges more frequent SQL server releases

Paul Flessner, senior vice-president of Microsoft's server platform division has announced that the second beta of its SQL Server will be available within weeks and the product remains on track for next year.

It has taken longer to ship SQL because it has been difficult to bring the integration of the Visual Studio .net development tools with the server, he said.

Some users are anxious to use the new features, but he added that the company has always had good, high-quality releases of SQL Server, and this one is going to be another super-high-quality release.
