Oracle Offers $9.4 Billion for PeopleSoft

The business software maker sweetens its cash bid for PeopleSoft, offering nearly 19 percent more than current market value.


Oracle (Quote, Chart) has ratcheted up its pressure on rival applications maker PeopleSoft (Quote, Chart) by raising its cash buyout offer to $9.4 billion.

The move comes as regulatory investigations to determine whether the merger would violate antitrust laws hurtle toward a conclusion.
