There will always be a place for data warehouses, even as IBM, Oracle and Microsoft continue to build data warehousing perks into their mainstream databases.

IBM is working hard to link data warehouses with realtime information to make them more valuable to customers. Traditionally, companies pump data from their databases into data warehouses, where it can be queried and massaged without impacting their bread-and-butter operational systems.
