New from IBM is InfoSphere Guardium 8, software that helps protect a company’s data from security breaches through automatic monitoring of database and application usage with immediate alerts, as well as helps meet compliance regulations with simplified audits and stronger governance controls. InfoSphere Guardium 8 provides:

  • Activity monitoring for IBM DB2 databases running on System z, which captures all database transactions with minimal performance impact, plus a series of automated tests for security vulnerabilities
  • Monitoring of and detailed information about all SAP users, even administrators and outsource personnel, for fraud protection without having to change databases or applications
  • Automatic blocking of users performing suspicious activity or accessing critical data without authorization
  • An enterprise-wide view of databases, applications, network security devices, and other systems through integration with Tivoli Security Information and Event Management software, along with simplified, detailed audit reports and more.

"Data is the new currency for business and safeguarding that investment is a primary concern for businesses across every industry," said Arvind Krishna, general manager, IBM Information Management. "IBM is the only vendor that can help clients reduce the complexity of data security across the largest and most diverse data center environments while at the same time reducing the costs associated with regulatory compliance."
